The Making of The Cozy Corner: Autumn Alchemy

The Making of The Cozy Corner: Autumn Alchemy

Fall has always been my reset season, when I trade bright summer chaos for cozy creation and reflection. This year, that energy became The Cozy Corner: Autumn Alchemy — a fall pop-up art experience in Atlanta blending my art with @hibiscus.greenhouse's pastiries and the kind of warmth we all crave when the leaves start to turn.

There’s something inherently badass about a creative taking on a self-funded project. It’s a declaration to the world that you’re here and have something to say; a manifesto to yourself that anything is possible. The fruits of your labor rest entirely in your hands.

And what a beautiful journey that is. To strike out on your own, bet on yourself, and push past your comfort zone. To dare to try something new.

Lately, there’s been a lot of conversation around art community and the role of artists in complex times. Because my work doesn’t always center on heavy social or political themes, people sometimes assume it’s not that deep. But that’s a misconception. Light-hearted, imaginative art is just as vital as the pieces that dissect culture or history. We need both, the work that critiques and the work that dreams.

A few weeks ago, I pitched an idea to one of my best friends, Micki, a pastry baker and body care creator. I told her about my vision for a seasonal, fall-themed solo art show featuring my new autumn-inspired pieces — plus some of my creative side projects like prints, stickers, and candles. When I hosted my first solo show, she catered the most amazing baked treats, so it felt natural to collaborate again. I’m collaborating with @hibiscus.greenhouse, who’s bringing her incredible pastries and body care to life for the event.

This time around, I wanted to build a show around a seasonal theme. Fall to me has always been a cross of whimsy and mysticism. Between the greenery changing into warm hues of reds and golden yellows, fall activities like going to a county fair at dusk, pumpkin patches, and cozy reading sessions on the couch. I wanted to capture those magical moments in my own way.

Along with the art, I want the space to feel whimsical and mystical — immersive and transformative, a place where you can linger and savor a freshly baked scone under fairy lights.

I’ve always loved the combination of art, tea, and pastries. So as the concept came together, I imagined a cozy, sensory experience — art on the walls, delicious bites, music, and warm seating where people could truly linger. A space that felt like both a gallery and a comforting pause.

Now, just two weeks out, that dream is becoming reality. We’re transforming a local gallery into a whimsical autumnal forest for a weekend-long pop-up event filled with art, pastries, and small-batch goods. Guests can enjoy the atmosphere, grab a treat, and even unwind with free coloring sheets.

While The Cozy Corner: Autumn Alchemy is indeed an art show and a small business pop-up, it’s also something more. It’s an invitation for community, for us to collectively slow down and reconnect with the joy of making and dreaming, even as adults. It’s proof that creativity doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.

If you’re in Atlanta and looking for a cozy creative escape this season,  join us.
