Celebrating National Black Business Month
Share
Fun Fact: August is National Black Business Month. I know we're at the tail end of it, but I had a few thoughts on my mind about it.
Earlier this month I shared about my daughter starting school and us adjusting to a new routine. I've spent the last few weeks setting goals and dreaming up plans to round the year out. And let me tell you, starting a business while managing life’s other adventures is no joke. I’ve learned a lot over these last 9 years—from handling finances to mastering marketing and building a brand. It’s been a wild ride, filled with lessons and rewards.
Of course, there have been tough times, too. Moments of doubt when sales were slow, or when it felt like no one was listening. But here’s the thing—those moments have pushed me to grow, to get creative, and to keep pushing forward, especially these last few years.
We all have a story or 2 about post- pandemic life, and how so much has changed. But one of the best parts of this journey has been the incredible community. Being a Black woman in business has connected me with so many amazing people: artists, entrepreneurs, and art lovers alike. I've been able to enjoy life while creating new work, and it wouldn't be possible without someone like you taking the time to show interest in my story.
National Black Business Month is all about celebrating our strength, creativity, and resilience. It’s about lifting each other up and investing in our community.
